The Northern Municipal Council’s persistent efforts have finally paid off as approval for a new market in A’ali has been granted. The Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs, Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, has confirmed that the ministry is considering a small market for vegetables and meats on a site that has been allocated to them. This development comes after the council’s continued advocacy for a centralized market in the area, which was highlighted in a report by The Daily Tribune on 15th October.

Municipal Council member Abdullah Ashoor has expressed gratitude for the Minister’s understanding of the area’s needs and his commitment to ensuring that residents are well-served. The purpose of the proposed market in A’ali is to create a convenient one-stop marketplace for locals, making it easier for them to access groceries and other essentials in a single location. This initiative also aims to provide more opportunities for Bahraini vendors, ultimately benefiting both residents and the local economy.

With A’ali’s population on the rise, including newcomers from Areas 715 and 716, the need for a central market has become even more pressing. Ashoor emphasizes the importance of a market reserved for Bahrainis that promotes local goods, providing employment opportunities and ensuring that essential items are readily available to the community. Despite the ministry’s previous stance that existing shops are sufficient, the council believes that a dedicated market is essential to fill existing gaps in the area.

The council has identified a suitable piece of land that could serve as a practical site for the proposed market in A’ali. Residents have voiced their support for the project, highlighting the inadequacies of current options and the necessity of a proper market. The council remains committed to advocating for the market’s establishment, promising to continue pushing for a space that meets the community’s needs and facilitates easy access to essential goods. This initiative not only benefits residents but also contributes to the growth and development of the local economy.

In conclusion, the approval for a new market in A’ali marks a significant milestone for the Northern Municipal Council, reflecting their dedication to improving the quality of life for residents and supporting local businesses. The proposed market is set to provide a central hub for essential goods and services, creating opportunities for Bahraini vendors and addressing the needs of the growing population in the area. By establishing this market, the council aims to enhance the community’s access to necessities while promoting economic growth and sustainability in the region.
