The Minister of Culture and Arts of Algeria, H E Dr. Soraya Mouloudji, has praised Qatar’s intellectual and cultural program as the guest of honor at the Algiers International Book Fair. She highlighted Qatar’s significant contributions to both Arab and global culture. The Minister emphasized the importance of aligning cultural programs with national and international events, promoting cultural exchange and fostering closer connections between countries. The State of Qatar’s Ambassador to Algeria, H E Abdulaziz Ali Al Naama, also expressed appreciation for Algeria’s rich cultural heritage and contributions to Arab culture through its writers and thinkers. Qatar’s participation as the guest of honor is seen as a tangible effort to translate ideas into actions and strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.

The Ambassador noted that the Algiers International Book Fair provides a platform for readers to acquire knowledge and for authors to showcase their latest publications and creativity to intellectuals and readers. The fair facilitates cultural dialogue, highlights the role of thought in societal issues, and encourages interaction between publishers and writers of different generations. It is a forum that supports the exchange of ideas and the promotion of cultural diversity. The importance of strengthening cultural relations between Qatar and Algeria was underscored by the Ambassador as a shared aspiration among intellectuals in both countries, believing in the role of culture in fostering growth and progress.

During the official opening of the cultural activities at the book fair, the Algerian Minister of Culture and the Ambassador jointly honored prominent literary figures. Qatar’s extensive cultural program at this year’s fair includes the participation of numerous prominent figures in culture, literature, and art, along with notable publishing houses from local, regional, and global levels. The fair features approximately 1,007 participants from 40 countries, including 290 local exhibitors and 350 guests from 24 countries. The comprehensive cultural program of the fair consists of seminars, discussions, meetings, and a dedicated program for children, offering educational, learning, and recreational activities such as theatre, art workshops, and competitions.

Overall, the Algiers International Book Fair serves as a significant platform for promoting cultural exchange, showcasing literary works, fostering dialogue among intellectuals, and celebrating cultural diversity. Qatar’s participation as the guest of honor demonstrates its commitment to supporting cultural initiatives and enhancing cultural relations with Algeria. The fair’s diverse range of participants and activities reflects a vibrant and dynamic cultural scene, offering opportunities for collaboration, networking, and the exchange of ideas. Strengthening cultural ties between countries contributes to the enrichment and development of global culture while highlighting the importance of literature, art, and thought in shaping societies and promoting mutual understanding.
