The International ESG conference in Doha, Qatar is set to be inaugurated by Former Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani. The conference, organized by Conference Chairperson H E Sheikha Amal bint Thamer Al Thani, will be held at Alwadi Hotel in Msheireb Downtown Doha. The event will see attendance from ambassadors of countries accredited to Qatar, Chairman of Qatar Chamber H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, and other prominent figures. Over 250 participants from various companies and government institutions, as well as 10 speakers from outside Qatar, will join government, academic, and private entities in discussing important issues related to environmental, social, and corporate governance.

The focus of the conference is on addressing key issues pertaining to environmental impact, societal well-being, and corporate responsibility. Sheikha Amal highlighted the international interest in these matters in order to guide companies towards sustainable development, reduced environmental impact, and increased attention to societal and human rights issues. Major companies globally are transitioning towards new standards and practices with regulatory pressure. Qatar is also embracing similar standards as countries face common challenges in these areas. The conference aims to serve as a platform for sharing best practices and driving positive change.

University of Doha for Science and Technology will host the second day of the conference, engaging professors and students to learn about these evolving standards. The integration of academia in understanding and implementing ESG practices is crucial for the business community. Qatar Free Zones Authority will be the official sponsor of the conference, with H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani and other distinguished speakers addressing the opening session. The support of organizations such as Aamal Company and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) reflects the importance of promoting ESG principles locally and internationally. UDST, Public Works Authority, Aamal Company, TechnoQ, and Mowasalat have also pledged their sponsorship for the event.

Overall, the International ESG conference in Doha represents a significant step towards advancing sustainable business practices in Qatar and beyond. The participation of key stakeholders from government, academia, and the private sector underscores the growing importance of environmental, social, and corporate governance issues globally. As companies worldwide navigate the complexities of operating in a socially and environmentally responsible manner, forums like this conference play a vital role in fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and innovation. By embracing ESG principles, organizations can not only mitigate risks and enhance their reputation but also contribute positively to society and the environment. The conference serves as a platform for dialogue, education, and action towards a more sustainable and inclusive future.
