In a move that marks a significant step forward in Bahrain’s efforts to diversify its energy sources and reduce its carbon footprint, the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has announced the launch of a tender for the construction of a new solar power station in the Al Dur area of the Southern Governorate. With an expected capacity of 90-100 megawatts, this project is in line with Bahrain’s national goals of diversifying and sustaining its energy resources as part of the kingdom’s energy transformation plan. The tender will cover all stages of the project, from engineering and design to construction, installation, and connection to the EWA grid, with an anticipated completion time of 18 months from the start date.

After a thorough evaluation process, TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis Company Limited emerged as the sole qualified bidder for the project, submitting a bid totaling BHD 27,609,824.103. If awarded the contract, the company is slated to begin work on the solar power station in the near future. The primary objective of the project is to generate clean energy, decrease dependence on fossil fuels, and align with Bahrain’s environmental sustainability goals, thereby contributing to the kingdom’s broader sustainable development initiatives.

With the successful implementation of this solar power project, Bahrain will make significant strides towards achieving its energy diversification and sustainability objectives. By harnessing solar energy as a renewable resource, the kingdom will reduce its reliance on traditional fossil fuels, thereby decreasing its carbon footprint and supporting environmental conservation efforts. The construction of the solar power station in the Al Dur area represents a crucial investment in Bahrain’s future energy infrastructure, ensuring a more efficient and environmentally friendly energy supply for the kingdom.

The selection of TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis Company Limited as the qualified bidder for the project underscores the company’s expertise and capability in delivering high-quality solar power infrastructure. Their bid amount of BHD 27,609,824.103 reflects their commitment to providing cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions for Bahrain. With the company poised to commence work on the solar power station, Bahrain can look forward to reaping the benefits of clean, renewable energy in the near future, further positioning the kingdom as a leader in sustainable energy development in the region.

The launch of the tender for the new solar power station in Al Dur showcases Bahrain’s proactive approach towards embracing renewable energy sources and reducing its carbon emissions. By investing in clean energy projects such as this, Bahrain is not only safeguarding its environment and natural resources but also laying the foundation for a more sustainable and resilient energy sector. The completion of the solar power station within 18 months will mark a significant milestone in Bahrain’s journey towards achieving a more diversified and sustainable energy portfolio, contributing to the kingdom’s long-term energy security and economic growth.

Overall, the construction of the new solar power station in Al Dur represents a pivotal moment in Bahrain’s energy sector development, underscoring the kingdom’s commitment to embracing renewable energy and reducing its carbon footprint. With the project set to generate clean energy, support environmental sustainability goals, and contribute to Bahrain’s broader sustainable development objectives, the kingdom is poised to make significant progress towards a more efficient, environmentally friendly energy landscape. By partnering with TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis Company Limited for the project, Bahrain is paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future, setting a positive example for the region and beyond.
