In Dubai, experiencing the true essence of Emirati culture and hospitality can be achieved by visiting the best Emirati-run cafes. These cafes offer a blend of traditional flavors and modern twists that provide a sense of authenticity and warmth. Here are some top recommendations for immersing yourself in the charm of Emirati coffee and cuisine.

First on the list is ‘To The Moon & Back’, located on Al Athar Street in Jumeirah. This café, owned by Zainab Al Mousawi, reflects her passion for coffee and unique space-themed decor. Inspired by Australian cafe culture, Zainab sources her coffee beans from a roastery in Melbourne. The menu offers light bites and all-day toasted sandwiches, including a popular pastrami sandwich from the local brand Mattar Farm.

Brew, located in Umm Suqeim, is a cafe that opens early at 6.30am, making it a perfect spot for breakfast lovers. This cafe offers a wide variety of beans from specialty roasters worldwide, paired with delicious baked goods in a welcoming environment.

Drop, founded by Mahmood Al Khamis and Ghanim Al Qassim, is dedicated to the craft of coffee and roasts their beans on the premises. With two branches in Dar Wasl Mall and Dubai Mall, Drop offers exceptional specialty coffee in chic and sophisticated settings, along with buttery pastries.

For those looking for an authentic Emirati coffee experience, Qahwaty is a great choice. With locations at DIFC Gate Avenue, Mirdif 35 Mall, and Al Quoz Pond Park, Qahwaty offers distinctive coffee choices served in a traditional majlis-style seating area, perfect for socializing and unwinding.

Dips Cafe, founded by Emirati engineer Rashid Al Hammadi, is a hidden gem in Jumeirah that offers signature dishes made with organic dips molasses. The cafe’s decor combines stone and rattan materials to create a neutral aesthetic, and it offers its coffee blend, called Trio.

Located in the upscale City Walk area, Obeli was founded by Emirati businesswoman Aisha Al Tamimi. This cafe offers a bright, open space with stylish furniture and a striking fabric ceiling installation, providing a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle for catching up with friends.

The Espresso Lab, located in Dubai Design District, is owned by Ibrahim Al Mallouhi and showcases a cool, ultra-minimalist design. With a primary focus on coffee, this cafe has earned high praise for its offerings. The spacious tables and clean design make it a popular spot for meetings, especially among coffee enthusiasts.

Overall, exploring Emirati-run cafes in Dubai is a fantastic way to not only enjoy delicious coffee and cuisine but also to immerse yourself in the rich culture and hospitality of the Emirati people. These cafes offer a unique and authentic experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression on visitors.
