Bahrain’s plans to develop the Hawar Islands into a top tourist destination through projects like the newly opened Hawar Resort – by Mantis were highlighted in a recent Cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. The Cabinet emphasized the significance of these initiatives in driving tourism and supporting Bahrain’s development goals under the leadership of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. These projects, overseen by the Higher Authority for Hawar Islands Development led by Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, aim to capitalize on Bahrain’s unique marine environment and status as the Gulf’s only archipelagic state.

The Cabinet also discussed the newly opened Electricity and Water Control Centre, launched by Prince Salman, which is expected to enhance infrastructure efficiency and capacity, laying the groundwork for further growth and economic advancement. The Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs and the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) were commended for their efforts in this essential area. As Bahrain approaches 2025, the Cabinet reviewed the country’s achievements in 2024, the 25th year of King Hamad’s reign. These accomplishments, across various sectors, were attributed to the continued focus on development under the leadership of Crown Prince Prince Salman.

The Cabinet expressed hope for prosperity in Bahrain and global peace and stability in the upcoming year. The meeting also recognized the success of the ‘Celebrate Bahrain’ festival, featuring cultural, heritage, and artistic events that attracted large crowds of residents and visitors. Special mention was given to the ‘Muharraq Nights’ festival organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and the ‘Retro Manama’ events overseen by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA). These festivals showcased the rich history and culture of Bahrain, adding to the country’s appeal as a tourist destination.

Moving forward, the development of the Hawar Islands and the various cultural events highlighted in the meeting serve as important drivers for Bahrain’s tourism sector. By leveraging its marine environment and unique status, Bahrain aims to attract more visitors and boost economic growth. The government’s continued focus on infrastructure development, such as the Electricity and Water Control Centre, will further enhance Bahrain’s capabilities and lead to sustainable progress. With a strong leadership guiding the country’s development agenda, Bahrain is well-positioned to achieve its goals and continue on the path of growth and prosperity.

Overall, the recent Cabinet meeting underscored Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing its tourism sector and supporting economic development. Through projects like the Hawar Resort and cultural events like ‘Muharraq Nights’ and ‘Retro Manama,’ Bahrain is showcasing its heritage and attractions to a global audience. With a focus on infrastructure improvements and continued efforts in key sectors, Bahrain is poised for continued success and growth in the years ahead. The government’s vision for the future includes a vibrant tourism industry that contributes to the country’s overall development and prosperity.
