Doha, Qatar – The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 Local Organising Committee (LOC) has reinforced its dedication to inclusivity, ensuring a welcoming experience for fans with disabilities. All six venues hosting matches will offer a range of accessible seating options as part of this commitment, building on Qatar’s efforts to create lasting accessibility infrastructure. This initiative was highlighted as the world observed International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd.

Rashid Al Khater, LOC Operations Executive Director, stated that the tournament is an opportunity to demonstrate that football is truly a sport for everyone. He emphasized the importance of the Arab Cup to fans across the region and the LOC’s focus on ensuring disabled supporters can fully participate in the excitement. The organization hopes these developments will establish a positive legacy of accessibility within Qatar’s sporting landscape.

Enhancing Accessibility for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025

The LOC is implementing several measures to enhance the experience for disabled fans attending the FIFA Arab Cup. These encompass not only physical access to stadiums but also innovative technologies and dedicated support services. This approach reflects a broader movement within international sporting events to prioritize inclusivity and remove barriers to participation.

Stadium Accessibility Features

Beyond accessible seating options, all six stadiums have incorporated dedicated parking spaces, accessible restrooms, and convenient access to concession stands to cater to fans with mobility limitations. These design elements aim to provide a comfortable and dignified experience for all attendees. According to the LOC, these features go beyond compliance standards and represent genuine efforts to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Innovative Technology for Visually Impaired Fans

Recognizing the needs of visually impaired fans, the LOC is providing audio descriptive commentary for select matches through the 3annak smartphone application. Users can access the service by downloading the app and entering the code FAC25, then choosing their preferred audio channel. This real-time description of on-field action and surrounding stadium atmosphere allows blind and partially sighted individuals to follow the game in a detailed and immersive way.

Supporting Fans with Sensory Needs

Understanding that neurodivergent individuals may require a more calming environment, sensory rooms are available at Lusail, Education City, and Al Bayt stadiums. These rooms offer a quieter space, equipped with assistive technology and staffed by trained personnel to provide appropriate support. Providing these specialized areas caters to a wider range of fan experiences and needs.

Creating Memorable Moments

The tournament organizers have also created inspirational experiences for disabled children, inviting several to participate as player escorts during matches, including the opening game at Al Bayt Stadium. This allows young fans to actively contribute to the event and enjoy a unique, unforgettable experience. Such initiatives generate positive publicity and enhance the tournament’s reputation for inclusivity.

Fans requiring accessible seating or other accommodations can request tickets by emailing [email protected]. The dedicated team managing these requests will require proof of eligibility, and companion tickets are available for those assisting accessibility ticket holders.

The push for greater accessibility in Qatar is part of a wider trend in the region and globally. Several nations are investing in infrastructure improvements and policy changes to ensure that people with disabilities can fully participate in society, including attending major sporting events.

Further details about the match schedule and accessibility provisions can be found on the official tournament website, www.roadtoqatar.qa. The LOC anticipates finalizing all accessibility arrangements in the coming months, ahead of the tournament’s commencement. Continued monitoring of implementation and feedback from disabled fan groups will be critical to the overall success of these efforts.
