Doha, Qatar – Motorists traveling in the Zekreet area should prepare for temporary road closures this week as the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) undertakes essential infrastructure improvements. The entrance to Zekreet Street from the Rabiah bin Eissa Al Kuwari intersection will be closed in both directions during the early hours of Friday and Saturday, January 9th and 10th, 2026, to facilitate the installation of new speed bumps. This temporary disruption aims to enhance road safety for residents and visitors alike.

Ashghal announced the specific detour routes for affected drivers. Those approaching from the Rabiah Bin Eissa Al Kuwari Intersection will be directed to utilize Jery Al Samur street as an alternative. This redirection allows for continued access to the Zekreet area while the work is completed.

Drivers coming from the south, according to Ashghal’s statement, should proceed towards Jery Bu Awseja Street. From there, they will need to turn left onto Rawdat Shabhana Street and then make another left onto Jery Bu Areesh Street to reach their intended destinations. These detour routes are designed to minimize disruption and maintain the flow of traffic as much as possible.

The timing of the closure – during the early hours of Friday and Saturday – suggests an attempt to mitigate impact on peak commuting times. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant and check for updated traffic information from Ashghal’s official channels before traveling.
