Turkish police have been on high alert following a recent string of thefts committed by a notorious female robbery gang in Istanbul. One Bahraini woman fell victim to this gang during her personal trip to Turkiye, losing over BD1,000 in cash and her luxury handbag while dining at the famous Hafiz Mustafa Restaurant. The thieves were able to bypass OTP approvals and quickly drain her accounts, using her credit card for several transactions under a fake company name. Despite alerting the restaurant manager and reporting the incident to the Istanbul police, the culprits have not yet been identified.

In a similar incident reported on August 26, another Bahraini tourist in Istanbul narrowly escaped a theft thanks to the swift intervention of Turkish police. This theft occurred in the busy Beyoglu district, a popular shopping area in Istanbul. Investigations have revealed that the female gang responsible for these crimes has a long history of theft, with 368 reported cases attributed to them. With Istanbul being a favored destination for travelers, these incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant and cautious when visiting crowded tourist spots.

The victim of the robbery in Turkiye shared her harrowing experience, noting that the thieves were able to steal her bag with the help of a young girl and two women in niqabs. Despite recovering the stolen credit card amount, she was unable to recover the money taken from her debit card and had to pay a BD130 investigation fee. The incident serves as a warning to travelers to be aware of their surroundings and keep a close eye on their belongings while exploring popular tourist areas.

Following the incident, a Bahraini woman living in London shared her own experience with theft in a social media post, highlighting the importance of staying alert while traveling. As incidents of theft continue to plague tourists in Istanbul, it is crucial for visitors to take precautions such as keeping valuables secure and being aware of their surroundings at all times. The rise of theft by organized gangs underscores the need for increased security measures and awareness among tourists in popular destinations like Istanbul.

While the Bahraini woman’s stolen handbag and cash have yet to be recovered, she hopes that sharing her story will serve as a cautionary tale for other travelers. By remaining vigilant and taking proactive steps to ensure their safety, tourists can reduce the risk of falling victim to organized crime groups preying on unsuspecting visitors. As authorities work to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, it is essential for tourists to exercise caution and prioritize their safety while enjoying their travels in foreign countries.
