The AJP Tour Dubai International Jiu-Jitsu Championship concluded with MOD UAE leading the medal standings. The event featured both amateur and professional divisions, with Commando Group securing second place and Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club in third. This year’s championship saw an increase in participation, with 74 clubs and academies competing, up from 64 last year. The final day alone saw 310 male and female athletes competing for top honors.

Swiss club Ruckus JJ’s Kastriot Mustafi claimed the gold medal in the professional 120kg category. Mustafi expressed his excitement at winning the gold medal in Dubai and competing against skilled opponents. Al Wahda Jiu-Jitsu Club’s Hessa Al Shamsi secured the gold medal in the 55kg professional women’s category, anticipating her performance at the upcoming world championship. Additionally, Muhrah Mahfoudh of Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy emerged victorious in the 62kg professional women’s category, highlighting the valuable experience gained from competing against top athletes.

The championship’s success was acknowledged by various dignitaries, including Youssef Abdullah Al Batran, Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi, Ali Omar Al Balushi, and Ahmed Al Janahi. Al Batran praised the event for attracting top international jiu-jitsu stars and providing a platform for young talents. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of the championship in enhancing the skills of athletes by competing against seasoned competitors to prepare for future events. Al Batran also commended UAE athletes for their outstanding performances and the clubs and academies for their strong participation and support.

Ali Omar Al Balushi, Director of Sports Events at Dubai Sports Council, expressed the council’s pleasure in being a part of the championship and highlighted the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s efforts in organizing world-class events. The collaboration between Dubai Sports Council and the Federation has supported athletes across all categories, leading to the success of Emirati champions in international championships. The council looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Federation to host more championships in Dubai in the future.
