South Al Batinah Governorate in Oman is developing a strategic vision for long-term growth, in collaboration with government and private sector stakeholders. This vision aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and aims to position the governorate as a hub for sustainable development. Governor Masaud bin Said Al Hashmi outlined three key aspects of the strategy: communication, excellence, and diversification. The communication aspect focuses on establishing the governorate as a regional center for data and e-trade, as well as enhancing the logistics sector. The excellence sector aims to make South Al Batinah a national sports excellence center capable of hosting international events.

Investment opportunities in agriculture and fisheries sectors are also being pursued, with Barka and Al Musannah Ports identified as promising areas for development. The governorate is working to improve infrastructure to support these sectors, with an expected investment of OMR 50 million in Barka Port. Collaboration with the Ministry of Health is also underway to enhance healthcare services and raise awareness through campaigns. The conservation of natural reserves, including Al Rustaq Wildlife Reserve and the Al Dimaniyyat Islands Nature Reserve, is a priority for the governorate to preserve its natural heritage.

In terms of education, several projects are in progress to improve the educational infrastructure, including the construction of schools in Wilayats of Barka and Al Aawabi. Additionally, plans are underway to develop souqs in the Wilayats of Wadi Al Ma’awil and Al Awabi. South Al Batinah Governorate’s strategic vision is comprehensive and multifaceted, aiming to drive economic growth, enhance education and healthcare services, promote sports excellence, and preserve the region’s natural resources.
