On Monday, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister received Lt.Gen Jibril Rajoub, Secretary General of Fatah’s Central Committee and President of Palestine Olympic Committee at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Muscat. The meeting focused on the current situation in Palestine and the ongoing efforts for national reconciliation to achieve justice for the Palestinian cause and the independence of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Both sides emphasized the importance of the international community taking responsibility to stop Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and open all crossings for humanitarian aid.

Sayyid Badr commended the resilience of the Palestinian people in the face of challenges and reiterated the Sultanate of Oman’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. Lt.Gen Jibril Rajoub expressed his gratitude for Oman’s support and efforts in advocating for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and working towards a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. The meeting highlighted the need for the international community to play a vital role in ending the Arab-Israeli conflict and achieving a lasting resolution for the region.

The two sides also discussed the importance of achieving national reconciliation among Palestinian factions to strengthen their position and unite their efforts towards a common goal. By working together towards a peaceful resolution, they are aiming to create a stable and independent Palestinian state that can thrive under the protection of international law. This will not only benefit the people of Palestine but also contribute to regional stability and security in the Middle East.

Sayyid Badr and Lt.Gen Jibril Rajoub underscored the significance of upholding the 1967 borders as the basis for any future negotiations regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state. With East Jerusalem as its capital, Palestinians can finally realize their dream of self-determination and sovereignty. The ongoing suffering of Gaza residents due to Israeli aggression cannot be overlooked, and urgent action is needed to alleviate their plight and ensure their basic human rights are protected.

The meeting concluded with a call for the international community to mobilize support for the Palestinian cause and pressure Israel to comply with international law and respect the rights of the Palestinian people. By working together towards a peaceful resolution, all parties involved can create a more stable and secure future for the region. Oman’s continued support and advocacy for the Palestinian cause serve as a beacon of hope for those striving towards a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
