The Royal Saudi Naval Forces recently participated in a joint naval and air exercise in Greece called ‘Medusa 13’ alongside forces from Egypt, France, and Cyprus. The exercise, which took place on the Greek island of Crete in the Mediterranean, included various scenarios and drills, such as landing operations and live-fire exercises. Rear Admiral Mansour Al-Juaid, Commander of the Western Fleet, attended the closing ceremony of the exercise.

Naval Commander Col. Fahd Al-Otaibi led the exercise, which consisted of two phases – theoretical lectures and hands-on operational activities. The activities covered military and civil-military operations, information operations, amphibious assaults, civilian evacuations, and protection of freedom of navigation. The Saudi naval forces, including Special Naval Security Units, Marine Infantry, and Naval Aviation, displayed high professionalism and readiness throughout the exercise, achieving positive results.

The exercise aimed to foster alliances and security cooperation to enhance maritime security, execute joint combat missions with modern weaponry, coordinate amongst units to address non-traditional maritime threats, and share expertise to secure the theater of operations against potential risks. Al-Otaibi emphasized the importance of continuous training and development in achieving these objectives. The exercise highlighted the importance of collaboration and readiness among the participating forces.

The participation of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces in the joint exercise showcased their commitment to enhancing maritime security and their ability to work effectively alongside international partners. The exercise provided an opportunity for the forces to demonstrate their capabilities and readiness in various scenarios, from landing operations to live-fire exercises. The successful completion of the exercise demonstrated the importance of ongoing training and development for maintaining operational readiness.

Saudi Arabia’s collaboration with Egypt, France, and Cyprus in the ‘Medusa 13’ exercise reflects the strong relationships and partnerships the Kingdom has established with other countries in the region. By participating in joint exercises like this one, Saudi Arabia is able to strengthen its alliances, enhance security cooperation, and build capacity to address shared maritime security challenges. The exercise also provided a platform for sharing expertise and best practices among the participating forces.

Overall, the ‘Medusa 13′ joint naval and air exercise in Greece was a successful demonstration of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces’ professionalism, readiness, and commitment to enhancing maritime security. The exercise allowed the forces to collaborate with international partners, demonstrate their capabilities in various scenarios, and achieve the exercise’s objectives of fostering alliances, executing joint combat missions, and addressing maritime threats. This collaboration highlights the importance of ongoing training and cooperation in ensuring regional security and stability.
