The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain has been actively cracking down on illegal and non-compliant workers in the workforce. From October 13 to 19, the LMRA conducted 1,780 inspection campaigns and visits, resulting in the apprehension of 33 illegal workers and the deportation of 152 violators. These efforts have been crucial in upholding compliance with the law and ensuring the stability of the labor market in Bahrain.
During the inspection campaigns, a number of violations under the Labour Market Regulatory Authority Law and the Residency Law of Bahrain were uncovered. The LMRA promptly took legal actions to address these violations and maintain order within the workforce. In its report, the LMRA disclosed that 1,748 inspection visits were carried out in various commercial establishments across all governorates in Bahrain.
To enhance its enforcement measures, the LMRA collaborated with several government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, the Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs, and various governorate security directorates. Joint campaigns were conducted in different regions of Bahrain, with a total of 32 campaigns held during the specified time period. These collaborative efforts aim to ensure the compliance of all businesses and workers with the regulations set forth by the government.
The LMRA reiterated its commitment to working closely with government entities to intensify inspections and crack down on any violations that may undermine the stability, competitiveness, and security of the labor market in Bahrain. By safeguarding the economic and social environment in the kingdom, these inspection campaigns play a vital role in maintaining a fair and lawful workforce.
In a statement, the LMRA called on the public to support the government’s efforts in eradicating illegal practices in the labor market and addressing non-compliant workers. Citizens were encouraged to report any violations through the official LMRA website, the national suggestion and complaint system (Tawasul), or by contacting the LMRA Call Center. This collaborative approach between the government and the public is essential in ensuring a compliant and law-abiding workforce in Bahrain.
