Qatar’s participation in the “Arab Week at Unesco” in Paris highlighted the richness of Qatari heritage, customs, and traditions rooted in its Arab and Islamic identity. The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to Unesco, Dr. Nasser bin Hamad Al Hanzab, emphasized the country’s advancements in civilization, human development, and cultural projects. This participation allowed Qatar to engage with other cultures on an equal footing, showcasing its unique cultural offerings to the world.

Al Hanzab emphasized Qatar’s role in enhancing the presence of Arab and Islamic culture within Unesco, a global organization that represents a meeting place for all cultures and countries. Qatar has been proactive in promoting Arab culture on an international scale, with events like the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 serving as a platform to share the richness of Arab culture and heritage with a global audience. Through various exhibitions and cultural proposals, Qatar has worked to highlight Arab tangible and intangible heritage at an international level.

Cultural diplomacy plays a crucial role in Qatar’s engagement with other cultures, fostering understanding and building bridges of communication. Qatar’s active involvement in Unesco’s Executive Board and presidency of important committees reflects the international community’s confidence in Qatar’s constructive role in promoting peace, tolerance, and dialogue worldwide. The State of Qatar’s commitment to spreading Unesco’s values and principles globally has garnered recognition and respect from the international community.

The Arab Week at Unesco, organized by the Arab Group at Unesco, featured notable Qatari participation and the presence of representatives from Arab countries and international diplomatic corps. This event provided a platform for showcasing the diverse cultural offerings of Arab nations, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration among different cultures. Qatar’s active engagement in such initiatives demonstrates its commitment to promoting cultural exchange, dialogue, and cooperation on a global scale.
