Qatar secures position on INTERPOL’s Executive Committee

The State of Qatar has achieved a significant milestone by winning a seat at the Executive Committee of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL). This accomplishment was announced during the 92nd General Assembly of INTERPOL in Glasgow, United Kingdom, where Qatar participated with a delegation led by H E Sheikh Nayef bin Faleh bin Saud Al Thani. Lieutenant Colonel Ali Mohammed Al Ali was also elected as a representative of the Asian seat, highlighting the strong competition among candidates from seven Asian countries.

H E Sheikh Nayef bin Faleh bin Saud Al Thani emphasized that Qatar’s victory is a reflection of its commitment to supporting regional and international peace and stability, as well as its efforts to enhance its position within major international organizations in the areas of international security and police cooperation. This achievement showcases Qatar’s leadership and the confidence that the international community has in the country’s ability to establish effective security standards that address current challenges.

The Executive Committee of INTERPOL serves as the governing body responsible for overseeing the implementation of decisions made during the General Assembly and directing the work of the General Secretariat of INTERPOL. This committee plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of the organization and meets three times a year to discuss policies and trends that enhance security and international cooperation among member states.

Qatar’s success in securing a seat at the Executive Committee of INTERPOL underscores the country’s dedication to promoting global security and collaboration. This achievement adds to Qatar’s impressive record of security accomplishments in Asia and internationally.
