The State of Qatar has reaffirmed its support for all efforts, both regional and international, to enhance the protection of children. This commitment was highlighted by Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Affairs, Fahad Mohammed Al Khayarin, during the first ministerial conference on ending all forms of violence against children in Bogota, Colombia. Qatar has strong partnerships with the United Nations and various organizations and is dedicated to ensuring comprehensive protection for children worldwide.

Qatar’s dedication to protecting children from violence stems from being one of the first countries to fulfill its obligations related to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, which include upholding children’s rights. Al Khayarin emphasized the importance of implementing strategic preventive measures to create safe environments for children, free from conflict, violence, and humanitarian crises. The challenges facing families in today’s world, such as poverty, conflict, and displacement, have direct and indirect impacts on children.

Government policies in Qatar focus on child protection, with coordination between governmental and non-governmental sectors proving successful in creating a safe environment for children. A comprehensive protection system has been put in place, with coordination between education, health, social affairs, police, and justice sectors. The Ministry of Social Development and Family plays a crucial role in providing child protection services through various programs and initiatives, such as the Shafallah Center for children with disabilities and the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN) for protecting children from violence and neglect.

The role of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, and the National Human Rights Committee in Qatar is also highlighted in protecting children and ensuring their rights in accordance with international standards. Qatar’s commitment to child protection is evident in the efforts of various government agencies and organizations working together to provide children with a safe and nurturing environment. By prioritizing the wellbeing of children, Qatar is taking important steps towards creating a better future for the younger generation.
