Mwani Qatar, a top official aims to make Doha Port the most popular travel destination in the region to boost the tourism sector. The Director of Doha Port, Abdulrahman Saad Al Baker, stated that their focus is on achieving a set of goals to ensure the sustainability of the marine tourism sector in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. They are proud to work with stakeholders, international shipping lines, and global cruise lines to contribute to making Qatar a gateway for maritime tourism. One of their primary goals is to make Doha Port the most popular travel destination in the region.

The Doha Port passenger terminal has been ranked as one of the eight most beautiful terminals in the world by Forbes magazine. Enhancing services and improving the traveler experience is one of the main goals set by Al Baker, which is in line with the highest international standards. Understanding the requirements of shipping lines and overcoming challenges faced by them greatly contributes to establishing the marine tourism industry. The strategic plan of the Ministry of Transport aims to make Doha a preferred destination for all travelers and to choose Doha as a main starting point for cruises in the region.

Doha has emerged as a major destination for the region due to development plans, events, and wonderful marine tourism at Doha Port. The current cruise season is expected to continue until April 2025 and is projected to be the largest cruise season in Qatar ever. Approximately 433,000 tourists on 95 trips operated by nine international operators are expected, showing a significant growth compared to the previous season. Doha Port has become a departure and return point for most tourist ships, hosting a record-breaking number of 260,000 tourists during the current season.

This season also features five ships making their debut entry to Doha Port, confirming the increased interest of cruise operators in the region. Doha Port has become the focus of attention for the largest tourism companies worldwide and a major destination for cruise companies in the region. The facilities and infrastructure at Doha Port have attracted a variety of boats, from superyachts to heritage boats to cruises. The efforts of Mwani Qatar aim to establish Doha Port as a top travel destination in the region and contribute to the growth of the marine tourism industry in Qatar.
