The 27th Algiers International Book Fair, taking place until November 16, 2024, has seen a significant turnout at the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion. Algerian visitors have shown a keen interest in learning about Omani books, publications, and various aspects of Oman’s culture and history. Said Salim Al Riyami, Director of the Department of Introduction to Islam and Cultural Exchange Department, revealed that the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is participating in the fair with approximately 80 titles, including books for sale and display authored by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, Grand Mufti of Oman, along with publications from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth.

The Omani pavilion at the book fair is showcasing a wide range of publications focusing on the country’s history, architecture, mosques, ancient shrines, jurisprudence, arts, and Arab-Islamic philosophy. This diverse collection of books provides a comprehensive insight into Oman’s rich cultural heritage and intellectual contributions. By participating in international book fairs like the one in Algiers, Oman aims to promote its literary works, share its unique heritage with a global audience, and strengthen cultural exchange with other countries.

The presence of Oman at the Algiers International Book Fair highlights the country’s commitment to promoting cultural dialogue and mutual understanding between nations. Through the dissemination of its literary and intellectual resources, Oman seeks to foster closer ties with Algeria and other countries in the region. The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at the book fair has attracted a diverse audience, including students, academics, researchers, and literature enthusiasts. The high level of interest shown by Algerian visitors in Omani books and publications reflects a growing curiosity about the cultural and intellectual heritage of the Sultanate. The exchange of ideas and knowledge facilitated by events like the Algiers International Book Fair contributes to building bridges between diverse societies and promoting intercultural dialogue.

In addition to showcasing its literary works, the Sultanate of Oman’s participation in the Algiers International Book Fair also serves as a platform for diplomatic and cultural outreach.
