Dr. Thuraya Said Al Sariri, an ecology activist, has recently been honored with the Arab Women’s Excellence Award for her outstanding contributions in the field of environmental action. With her role as the Assistant Director General for Nature Conservation at the Environment Authority, Dr. Al Sariri has dedicated her expertise to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability in the Sultanate of Oman.
In her role, Dr. Thuraya Al-Sariri represents Oman at various international meetings and councils, including the UNESCO’s International Coordinating Council for Man and Biosphere Reserves. She is also a member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and heads the Specialized Group of Plant Experts for the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia under the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
