Oman prepares for scorching heat as temperatures soar towards 50 degrees

On Sunday, 23, 2024, temperatures in Oman soared to nearly 50 degrees Celsius in Hamra Ad Duru station in Al Dhahirah Governorate. Oman Meteorology data revealed that Hamra Ad Duru station recorded the highest temperature in the country at 48.9 degrees Celsius. Following closely behind were Sunaynah station in Al Buraimi Governorate at 48.6 degrees Celsius and Fahud station in Al Wusta Governorate at 48.1 degrees Celsius. Other stations such as Al Buraimi, Ibri, and Zamaim also experienced scorching temperatures ranging from 47.1 to 47.7 degrees Celsius.

The extreme heat wave experienced in Oman is a cause for concern as temperatures approach unprecedented levels. The high temperatures pose risks to public health, agriculture, and infrastructure, urging authorities to take necessary precautions to mitigate the impacts of the heat wave.
