The Ministry of Education in Oman has recently issued a new Ministerial Resolution, No. 253/2024, which amends provisions of the previous Ministerial Resolution 152/2024. The updated resolution pertains to the academic calendar for government schools and private institutions for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. The main changes introduced by the new resolution are related to examination periods.

According to the updated resolution, the examination period for the end of the first semester is now scheduled to begin on 15 January 2025. This applies to students in grades 5-11, General Education Diploma students, as well as those in equivalent programmes at both government and private schools following the government calendar system. The examination period, which includes time for grading, is set to conclude on 6 February 2025.

Furthermore, the examination period for the end of the second semester and the second round of assessments has also been updated. This period will commence on 11 June 2025 and will run until 10 July 2025. The schedule for this examination period is applicable to students in grades 5-11, General Education Diploma students, their equivalents, as well as students in special education and adult education programmes at both government and private schools following the government calendar.

The issuance of the new Ministerial Resolution by the Ministry of Education reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a standardized and efficient academic calendar for all schools and educational institutions in Oman. By updating the examination periods for the 2024-2025 school year, the Ministry seeks to provide clarity and consistency in the assessment process for students at various grade levels and educational programs.

In addition to the examination period changes, the Ministry of Education is also focused on enhancing the quality of education and ensuring that students receive the necessary support and resources to succeed academically. The updated academic calendar is designed to facilitate effective teaching and learning processes while also allowing for adequate time for assessments and evaluations.

Students, parents, teachers, and school administrators are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the updated academic calendar and examination periods for the 2024-2025 school year. By adhering to the new schedule and guidelines outlined in Ministerial Resolution No. 253/2024, all stakeholders in the education sector can work together to create a conducive and productive learning environment for students in Oman.

In conclusion, the recent update to the academic calendar and examination periods by the Ministry of Education in Oman signifies a commitment to improving the educational system and ensuring that students receive a high-quality learning experience. The new Ministerial Resolution aims to streamline the assessment process and provide clarity for students, teachers, and parents regarding important academic milestones throughout the school year. By staying informed and following the guidelines set forth in the resolution, all stakeholders in the education sector can work together to support student success and promote excellence in education across Oman.
