The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has emphasized the urgency of convening the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in response to the dangerous escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories. The ongoing Israeli occupation aggression, which includes siege, destruction, and displacement, has prompted the OIC to address the dire situation. During the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Summit, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Taha warned of the severe consequences of the Israeli occupation’s measures against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Taha stressed the vital role of UNRWA in providing basic services to Palestinian refugees and urged the international community to fulfill its commitment and responsibility towards the Palestinian cause. He also highlighted the importance of doubling efforts to stop the crimes being committed against the Palestinian people and prevent further destabilization of the region.

The OIC Secretary-General called for support in implementing the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the illegality of the occupation and urged for expediting the achievement of the two-state solution. Arab and Muslim leaders are set to convene at the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to address the unfolding crises in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Lebanon due to the ongoing Israeli aggression. The Summit aims to de-escalate tensions in the region and seek solutions to the escalating situation. The OIC Secretary-General emphasized the need for international and individual efforts to prevent the Israeli occupation from expanding the circle of war and destabilizing regional peace and stability.

The Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit will bring together leaders from Arab and Muslim countries to discuss strategies for addressing the crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Summit is crucial for coordinating efforts to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian refugees and prevent further aggression from the Israeli occupation. The international community is urged to take decisive action to halt the violations committed against the Palestinian people and uphold the principles of justice and human rights. By supporting the implementation of the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion and working towards a two-state solution, the Summit aims to promote lasting peace in the region and ensure the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people are protected.

The OIC Secretary-General’s warning about the dire consequences of the Israeli occupation’s actions highlights the urgent need for collective action to address the escalating crisis. The ongoing Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories poses a threat to regional peace and stability, and concerted efforts are required to prevent further destabilization. The Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit serves as a platform for Arab and Muslim leaders to coordinate their response to the crisis and seek sustainable solutions to the ongoing conflict. By emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and adherence to legal principles, the Summit aims to pave the way for a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and ensure the rights of Palestinian refugees are upheld.

In conclusion, the convening of the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, underscores the gravity of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the urgent need for action to address the escalating crisis. The Summit represents a critical opportunity for Arab and Muslim leaders to unite in their efforts to support the Palestinian cause and defend the rights of Palestinian refugees. By calling for international support in implementing legal decisions and working towards a peaceful resolution, the OIC Secretary-General highlights the importance of collective action in preventing further aggression and promoting regional stability. The Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit holds the promise of advancing efforts to address the root causes of the conflict and pave the way for a just and lasting peace in the region.
