The main committee of the Muscat International Book Fair 2025 recently held its first preparatory meeting under the guidance of Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information and Chairman of the Committee. The committee focused on reviewing the cultural events that are set to take place during the 29th edition of the book fair, scheduled from 23 April to 3 May 2025. The panel stressed the importance of ensuring the quality and diversity of these events in order to meet the expectations of the fair’s visitors. Special attention was given to attracting influential literary figures, intellectuals, and media personalities from both the Arab region and around the world.

One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was the plan to highlight North A’Sharqiyah Governorate, which is the designated Guest of Honour for the book fair. The committee aims to showcase the governorate’s rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as its significant investment and tourism opportunities. By shining a spotlight on North A’Sharqiyah Governorate, the committee hopes to enhance the overall experience for attendees and create a greater awareness of the region’s unique offerings.

In addition to discussing the cultural events and the focus on North A’Sharqiyah Governorate, the committee also delved into the statistical reports from previous editions of the book fair. This analysis will help the committee better understand past trends and identify areas for improvement in order to enhance future editions of the fair. Furthermore, the committee explored proposed dates for the Muscat International Book Fair for the next five years, spanning from 2026 to 2030, and brainstormed strategies for addressing any potential challenges that may arise.

Overall, the committee’s first preparatory meeting for the Muscat International Book Fair 2025 was a productive and forward-thinking session. By emphasizing the importance of quality and diversity in cultural events, attracting prominent figures, highlighting North A’Sharqiyah Governorate, and analyzing past statistical data, the committee is setting the stage for a successful and engaging book fair experience. With strong leadership from Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi and a focus on elevating the profile of the fair, the committee is well-positioned to deliver an exceptional event that meets the aspirations of book fair visitors from both near and far.
