MP praises the success of the Ministry of the Interior in rehabilitation efforts

MP Mohammed Al-Maarafi recently commended Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior for its significant advancements in reformation and rehabilitation processes, both locally and globally. He credited these achievements to His Excellency Lt-General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior. Al-Maarafi highlighted impactful directives issued by the Minister to improve the reformation and rehabilitation environment across affiliated centers. One key directive ensures that inmates receive a minimum of two hours daily for sports activities, with the support of appropriate facilities, equipment, and resources. In addition, inmates now have access to specialized dietary guidance from the center’s medical clinic.

Moreover, Al-Maarafi noted that these measures, along with initiatives such as alternative punishments and open prisons, demonstrate Bahrain’s commitment to advancing human rights. He emphasized the positive impact of these initiatives on inmates, their families, and society as a whole. The General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation is also working towards achieving international accreditation from the American Correctional Association (ACA), showcasing Bahrain’s dedication to meeting global standards in the field of reformation and rehabilitation.
