The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MoSDF) in Qatar, in collaboration with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, has launched a financial awareness program called “Aazim” aimed at educating individuals on how to spend wisely. The first training course under this program targeted new employees, those planning to get married, and people in debt. The two-day workshop held at the Excellence Center for Training and Consulting covered various topics related to financial awareness and sustainability.

The financial awareness course is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development and improve the living standards of its people. The program focuses on educating participants, both male and female, on saving resources, implementing savings policies, and rationalizing spending to achieve financial sustainability. The goal is to spread the culture of financial awareness in society in an engaging and attractive manner.

Dr. Mona Babti, Head of the Training and Programme Development Department at the Center of Excellence for Training and Consulting, led the first training course on financial awareness. The course covered topics such as the concept of correct spending, setting a personal budget, prioritizing monthly purchases, saving versus spending equation, and practical training sessions. Dr. Babti expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Social Development and Family for launching this project and emphasized the importance of financial awareness in achieving financial sustainability and a decent life in society.

Hessa Al Dhiyab, a social guidance consultant at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, stressed the importance of wise spending and planning for household expenditures to preserve the family’s capabilities. She highlighted the need for individuals to acquire skills and knowledge about best financial practices to achieve financial balance in life. The financial awareness program “Aazim” was launched with the support of the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM) following the directive of Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad.

The program aims to increase the awareness of Qatari families and youth on the importance of optimal planning, spending, and saving, while avoiding debt for luxury. It is part of a comprehensive strategy to encourage responsible consumption and prepare future generations to rely on diverse sources of income that align with global changes. The Aazim program focuses on building financial awareness based on Islamic values in spending and using integrated models to manage financial life, which has been impacted by global economic transformations.

Overall, the initiative aims to educate young people and new families on the importance of avoiding unnecessary consumerism for luxury. By fostering a conscious and sustainable society, the program aims to provide future generations with equal opportunities for prosperity and sustainability. Through initiatives like the financial awareness program “Aazim,” the Ministry of Social Development and Family in Qatar is committed to building a financially literate society that values wise spending and balanced financial management to ensure a better future for all.
