The Ministry of Labour in Doha, Qatar recently collaborated with the Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants (QACPA) to hold a workshop on “Internal Auditing Standards” with the aim of enhancing the financial accounting skills of the national workforce. The workshop focused on improving both personal and professional skills, educating participants on current internal auditing methods, and preparing them for the changing requirements of the accounting sector in the labour market. The training session is aligned with the goals of the Third National Development Strategy, which aims to enhance the skills and participation of the national workforce in various industries and improve their competitiveness in the private sector.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the general framework of the internal control system, methods and means of evaluating the internal control system, audit methods and evidence, and rules for designing internal control over operations. They were also trained on the mechanisms and skills of financial auditing and internal control over cash operations, financial auditing and internal control over purchasing and stores, expenses and revenues, internal audit methodology according to the audit tasks, how to build the report and the elements of formulating its observations and evaluating the organisation’s governance process. This comprehensive training aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the field of internal auditing.

The Third National Development Strategy, which is the final phase of the Qatar National Vision 2030, has set ambitious goals to transform the labour market and create a more productive workforce. One of the key objectives is to establish a better-educated and more motivated talent base, as well as to increase the employment of the national workforce in the private sector to over 20 percent. By providing training workshops like the one on “Internal Auditing Standards,” the Ministry of Labour and QACPA are contributing to the achievement of these goals by enhancing the skills and competencies of the national workforce and preparing them for success in the evolving accounting sector.

Overall, the workshop on “Internal Auditing Standards” organized by the Ministry of Labour and QACPA in Doha, Qatar, aimed to improve the financial accounting skills of the national workforce and prepare them for the changing requirements of the accounting sector. The training session aligns with the goals of the Third National Development Strategy, which aims to enhance the skills and participation of the national workforce in various industries and improve their competitiveness in the private sector. By providing participants with training on internal control systems, financial auditing, and internal audit methodology, the workshop equipped them with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the field of internal auditing and contribute to the transformation of the labour market as outlined in Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
