Minister urges for responsible religious discussions leading up to Ashura season.

The Minister of Interior in Bahrain, Major Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, recently conducted his annual meeting with the Husseini Processions Commission and Matam leaders to emphasize the importance of responsible religious discourse and Islamic values during the upcoming Ashura Season. The meeting, attended by important officials such as the Chief of Public Security and Governors, aimed to enhance cooperation for organizing a smooth Ashura season. Major Shaikh Rashid highlighted the pivotal role of qualified preachers and reciters in upholding Bahrain’s rich Ashura traditions, emphasizing their significance in leading the Husseini processions and Matam mournings.

During the meeting, Major Shaikh Rashid conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, recognizing their dedicated efforts in preparing for Ashura. The participants in the meeting shared a commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful Ashura season, with a focus on promoting social unity and tolerance through the preservation of Ashura’s rituals. The Minister expressed gratitude to the Ja’afari Endowments Administration and Matam leaders for their cooperation in safeguarding Ashura’s spiritual integrity amidst current challenges.

Governor Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa of the Capital Governorate reaffirmed their commitment to celebrating Ashura in a manner that reflects Bahrain’s values. Yusuf bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Ja’afari Endowments Council, thanked the King and the Crown Prince for their support of religious traditions and their dedication to preserving Ashura’s significance. Members of the Husseini Processions Commission and Matam leaders also expressed their gratitude to the Interior Minister for his support in ensuring a successful Ashura season.
