HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented Qatar at the GLOBSEC Forum in Prague, Czech Republic. During a session on ‘Preventing Broader Conflict in the Middle East,’ he highlighted Qatar’s role as an international mediator due to its diplomatic relations with various countries. Qatar’s commitment to hosting peace talks, providing a platform for dialogue, and its experience in mediation, positions it as a key facilitator in resolving regional and international conflicts.

The State of Qatar prioritizes international law and peaceful means of conflict resolution to enhance stability and security globally. Regarding the situation in Gaza, Qatar has worked with regional and international partners, including the UN, to de-escalate tensions. Efforts have led to a humanitarian pause agreement in November 2023, with ongoing initiatives for a permanent ceasefire and humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people. HE Minister emphasized that without a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the region will continue to experience violence and instability.

Qatar has been actively involved in resolving crises in the region. In 2022, it hosted indirect talks between the US and Iran to revive the nuclear agreement and played a role in brokering peace in Afghanistan. HE Dr. Al Khulaifi reiterated Qatar’s support for stability in Lebanon and efforts to prevent a large-scale regional war. Qatar’s commitment to international peace and security is evident through its various diplomatic initiatives and mediation efforts, showcasing its dedication to resolving conflicts in the region and promoting stability.

The Minister’s speech emphasized Qatar’s commitment to upholding international law and promoting peaceful conflict resolution. Qatar has demonstrated its mediation experience and its ability to bring conflicting parties to the negotiating table.
