MP Dr. Maryam Al Dhaen recently highlighted the 23rd anniversary of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) in Bahrain, coinciding with the country’s celebration of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Silver Jubilee. Dr. Al Dhaen praised the SCW, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, for its significant role in advancing women’s rights in Bahrain and integrating them into the nation’s development. She also emphasized that the SCW’s efforts, supported by the government under His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, have allowed women to move from supportive roles to positions of equal opportunity.

The progress made by the SCW reflects Bahrain’s commitment to gender equality as outlined in the Constitution and the National Action Charter. Dr. Al Dhaen also acknowledged the contributions of the private sector and civil society in promoting gender balance and equal opportunities for women in the country. The SCW has played a key role in raising political awareness and increasing female representation in legislative bodies through free elections, demonstrating Bahrain’s dedication to human rights, equitable legislation, and social justice.

In her statement, Dr. Al Dhaen highlighted the strategic importance of women in public life and the significant strides that Bahrain has taken towards achieving gender equality. She emphasized the positive impact of the SCW’s initiatives in empowering women and ensuring their equal participation in all aspects of society. The support of the government, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has been instrumental in driving forward the agenda of gender equality and women’s empowerment in Bahrain.

The progress made by the SCW over the past 23 years underscores Bahrain’s commitment to promoting women’s rights and creating a more inclusive society. Dr. Al Dhaen recognized the collective efforts of various sectors in Bahrain, including the government, private sector, and civil society, in working towards gender balance and equal opportunities for women. The SCW’s advocacy has led to greater political awareness and increased female representation in legislative bodies, paving the way for a more equitable and just society in Bahrain.

Overall, Dr. Al Dhaen’s statement highlights the importance of continued efforts to advance women’s rights and gender equality in Bahrain. The SCW’s role in promoting women’s empowerment and participation in public life has been crucial in achieving progress towards a more inclusive society. By recognizing the contributions of all sectors of society, Bahrain can continue to build on the progress made over the past 23 years and work towards a future where women have equal opportunities and rights in all aspects of society.
