Making Halwa is More Than Just a Business, it’s a Passion for Omani Citizens

During the Khareef Season in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate, the shops selling Omani Halwa gain popularity among citizens and tourists alike. The traditional sweet treat attracts visitors from both within and outside the Sultanate of Oman, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the season. Omani Halwa makers from different governorates come to Salalah to showcase and sell their products, showcasing not only their skills but also their passion for their craft. These makers take pride in ensuring the traditional taste of Omani Halwa, using healthy ingredients and adhering to quality standards in their production.

One such Halwa maker, Khalfan Al Ghudhaib, the owner of Al Ghudaib Omani Halwa Factory, shared his successful experience during his first participation in the Khareef season in Salalah. His outlet received a large number of customers, reflecting the high demand for Omani Halwa during this time. Al Ghudaib Omani Halwa Factory offers five distinct types of Omani Halwa, each with its unique flavor profile, catering to a variety of preferences among customers. This diversification in product offerings is aimed at meeting the diverse needs and tastes of visitors to the factory.

Hatim bin Mohammed Al Mahrioqi, the owner of Al Shuhra Omani Halwa and Al Jalilah sweet factory, highlighted the extensive history of his factory, which was established 35 years ago in the Wilayat of Sinaw. Over the years, the factory has expanded to include 18 branches in various governorates, showcasing the widespread popularity and demand for their products. With an emphasis on quality and traditional taste, Al Shuhra Omani Halwa and Al Jalilah sweet factory have become synonymous with authentic Omani Halwa, attracting a loyal customer base both locally and internationally.

A’arif bin Mohammed Al Kharousi, the promotion and marketing manager at Al Diwaniya Omani Halwa making factory, shared the innovative approach taken by the factory in promoting their products. Using Arabic calligraphy, they personalize the Halwa packaging by writing the customer’s name or any requested expression on the product, adding a touch of uniqueness and customization to the traditional treat. Al Diwaniya Omani Halwa factory offers seven different types of Omani Halwa, each prepared with care and attention to detail, ensuring a delightful sensory experience for customers.

Al Khattab bin Khamis Al Qasabi, the Manager of the Salalah branch of Al Saifi Omani Halwa factory, highlighted the longstanding presence of the factory since its establishment in 1973. Offering various types of Omani Halwa, the factory prides itself on maintaining a 100% Omanisation rate, showcasing a commitment to supporting local talent and workforce. With a focus on both production and sales of Halwa, Al Saifi Omani Halwa factory continues to be a prominent player in the industry, providing customers with high-quality products and a memorable culinary experience.
