Lulu Qatar Hypermarket recently held its fifth annual “Shop and Donate” campaign, which focused on breast cancer awareness. The campaign saw a portion of sales from selected products being channeled to Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), resulting in a generous donation of QR125,000. This initiative exemplifies Lulu Hypermarket’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its ongoing support for QCS in raising cancer awareness, promoting preventive measures, and providing assistance to those affected by the disease.

During a cheque handover ceremony in Doha, Lulu Qatar Hypermarket’s Regional Director, Shaijan M. O., presented the donation cheque to QCS’s General Manager, Mona Ashkanani. Ashkanani expressed her gratitude to Lulu Hypermarket for its continuous support and emphasized the significant role that corporate entities like Lulu play in the fight against cancer. In addition to financial contributions, Lulu Hypermarket also engages in periodic initiatives such as healthy eating and disease prevention awareness campaigns, including pioneering healthy cooking shows to educate customers about nutrition’s role in preventing diseases like cancer.

Shaijan M. O. reiterated Lulu Qatar Hypermarket’s commitment to social responsibility programs, particularly in cancer awareness and prevention. He highlighted the company’s dedication to enhancing community well-being, promoting a healthier society, and providing valuable information to the public. Ashkanani praised Lulu Hypermarket for its support of QCS through the “Shop and Donate” campaign, noting that such initiatives reflect the company’s responsible commitment to the Qatari community and play a crucial role in raising cancer awareness and advocating for early detection.

Furthermore, Ashkanani emphasized the importance of collaboration between institutions like Lulu Hypermarket and QCS in achieving shared goals that benefit the community, particularly in supporting cancer patients and promoting a culture of early detection. She called on other institutions in Qatar to join the Society’s efforts in raising awareness about cancer, dispelling misconceptions about the disease, and providing support to patients who may struggle with the cost of treatment. By shining a light on cancer and promoting positive messages about prevention and early detection, Ashkanani believes that significant progress can be made in combatting the disease and improving outcomes for patients.
