King Charles III has congratulated the England football team on reaching the final of Euro 2024 and jokingly urged them to win the tournament without any nerve-shredding last-minute drama. The British head of state sent the team his warmest congratulations after their 2-1 win against The Netherlands on Wednesday evening and his very best wishes for Sunday’s final against Spain. He urged them to play with the nation’s blood pressure in mind after previous suspenseful moments in the tournament.

Fans endured the suspense of a last-gasp equaliser in the second round against Slovakia, a penalty triumph against Switzerland in the quarterfinal, and Ollie Watkins’ 90th-minute winner to send them through to the final. King Charles III humorously remarked, “If I may encourage you to secure victory before the need for any last minute wonder-goals or another penalties drama, I am sure the stresses on the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated!” He signed off with a simple message, “Good luck, England.”

Prince William, the president of the Football Association and a supporter of Aston Villa, praised Ollie Watkins for his crucial goal in the semifinal. William tweeted, “What a beauty, Ollie! Congratulations England! #EURO2024 Finalists.” He is expected to travel to Berlin for the final, along with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, an Arsenal fan who watched part of the game while attending a Nato summit in Washington.

The excitement and support for the England team are palpable as they head into the Euro 2024 final against Spain. With King Charles III and Prince William sending their best wishes and encouragement, the team is motivated to secure victory and make the nation proud. Ollie Watkins’ heroics in the semifinal have garnered praise from fans and royal family members alike, adding to the anticipation of the final showdown.

As the final approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating a thrilling and hopefully less nerve-wracking match from the England team. The pressure is on for the players to perform at their best and avoid the need for last-minute heroics or penalty dramas. With the whole nation behind them, the England team has the support and encouragement they need to bring home the Euro 2024 title and make history. Good luck, England!
