The Foreign Ministry in Muscat recently launched a program called “Your Embassy Hackathon” with the aim of enhancing innovation and upgrading services at Omani embassies worldwide. The Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Khalid Hashel Al Musalhi, highlighted the importance of the program in improving the efficiency of diplomatic action and aligning embassy standards with Oman Vision 2040. The initiative seeks to leverage modern technology to introduce smart solutions for enhancing embassy procedures and making them more sustainable.

Al Musalhi emphasized that “Your Embassy Hackathon” is the first of its kind in Oman and demonstrates the ministry’s commitment to developing smart embassies using modern technology to improve efficiency and sustainability in service provision. The hackathon encourages the presentation of initiatives and ideas for implementing modern technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to serve citizens abroad and establish effective communication. The program aims to contribute to digital transition, cybersecurity, resource management, and digital communication.

The program will run until mid-December 2024 and has received significant interest from the ministry’s employees and Omani missions abroad. A jury will evaluate the entries and announce the winning projects and initiatives in due course. “Your Embassy Hackathon” is a step towards fostering continuous innovation and upgrading services at Omani embassies globally, in line with the vision of the Foreign Ministry to enhance efficiency and sustainability through modern technology.

In conclusion, “Your Embassy Hackathon” is a pioneering initiative by the Foreign Ministry to drive innovation and modernization at Omani embassies worldwide. The program aims to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and service delivery through the use of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence. By encouraging the development of new ideas and initiatives, this initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that Omani embassies remain at the forefront of innovation and service excellence. The success of the program will not only benefit Omani citizens abroad but also strengthen Oman’s diplomatic presence globally.
