Dubai: Technical issue disrupts Metro services between Equiti and Max stations

Metro services were disrupted between Equiti and Max stations during peak hour on Monday evening in Dubai, as per the Roads and Transport Authority. The authority informed commuters of expected delays due to technical issues and alternative bus services were provided at the affected stations. Eyewitnesses reported that commuters on the Red Line were asked to step out of trains, while those waiting on platforms were not allowed to board trains.

Announcements at the DMCC metro station informed commuters of the situation, stating that train services were experiencing delays on the red line. No train schedule was displayed on screens near the information desk, and metro staff informed travellers that they were unsure how long the halt would last for. With alternate buses being provided, commuters scrambled out of the station to make their way home.

Travellers faced challenges with the disruption, as seen with gym instructor Pratik, who had to cancel a training session with a client near Dubai World Centre. Anette, who works at a hotel in Business Bay, was disappointed to find out that the trains weren’t running when she walked to the Business Bay Metro Station. Another individual shared their experience of being stuck between navigating multiple buses to reach home in Karama.

For travellers needing to switch to the Green Line, the Centrepoint route is a key course that includes interchange stations like Union and Burjuman. These stations connect to Green Line stations such as Etisalat and Creek, facilitating the journey for commuters. Stations along this route include Business Bay, Dubai Mall, Financial Centre, Emirates Towers, World Trade Centre, Max, ADCB, Burjuman, Union, and Rigga. The disruption in metro services on Monday evening caused inconvenience for many commuters, leading to delays and challenges in finding alternative modes of transportation. The Roads and Transport Authority informed passengers of the technical issues and provided alternative bus services at affected stations. Eyewitnesses reported that passengers on the Red Line were asked to exit trains, while those waiting on platforms were unable to board.

Metro staff informed travellers of the uncertain duration of the halt, prompting many to seek alternative transportation options to reach their destinations. Passengers shared their frustrations with the disruption, with some having to cancel appointments or facing difficulty in finding transportation.

Individuals like gym instructor Pratik and hotel worker Anette expressed their disappointment with the halted metro services, affecting their daily routines and travel plans. The disruption also impacted KT staff members, who navigated multiple buses to reach their homes, facing crowded metro stations and traffic delays. The Centrepoint route was highlighted as a key course for travellers needing to switch to the Green Line, connecting interchange stations for a smoother journey. Stations along this route included prominent locations in Dubai, facilitating travel for affected passengers.
