Dubai Police have seized 640 bicycles and e-scooters this month due to various violations committed by the riders, including speeding, riding in undesignated areas, not wearing safety gear, and riding against traffic. Authorities stated that these violations pose a risk to the lives of the riders and others on the road. Major fines are imposed for violations related to e-scooters and bicycles, such as overspeeding, endangering the rider or others, and carrying passengers without proper equipment. The police urge riders to follow traffic and safety guidelines and report any dangerous behaviors through the ‘Police Eye’ service or by calling ‘We Are All Police’ at 901.

In the first half of 2024, four people died in separate accidents involving e-scooters and bicycles, with 25 injuries recorded by Dubai Police. There were more than 7,800 traffic violations within the same period, leading to the confiscation of 4,474 e-scooters and bicycles. This highlights the severity of the issue, with an average of 43 traffic violations and 24 confiscated e-scooters or bicycles daily. Residents have raised concerns about the reckless behavior of e-scooter users, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of regulations and safety measures to ensure public safety.

E-scooters have gained popularity as a mode of transport in Dubai, but complaints from pedestrians and motorists about reckless riders have increased. Many e-scooter users are seen endangering themselves and others by riding in a dangerous manner on streets, including against the flow of traffic. Authorities have been urged to monitor and address these behaviors to prevent accidents and ensure road safety. Plans to register e-scooters with unique identification numbers and require individual driving permits for riders are being considered by Dubai Police to enhance awareness and promote responsible riding practices.

In an effort to reduce the number of accidents and violations related to e-scooters and bicycles, Dubai Police have stepped up enforcement measures. Riders are reminded to adhere to traffic and safety guidelines to avoid fines and penalties for violations. The public is encouraged to report dangerous behaviors on the road through official channels to help authorities maintain law and order. By raising awareness about the importance of road safety and accountability among riders, the goal is to create a safer environment for all road users in Dubai.Residents are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement efforts and contribute to road safety initiatives to prevent accidents and protect lives. In conclusion, it is essential for all road users, including e-scooter and bicycle riders, to prioritize safety, follow regulations, and respect traffic laws to ensure a secure and efficient transport system in Dubai.
