Dubai Basketball, a newly established sports franchise team, has announced an exclusive partnership with Coca-Cola Arena, making it the official anchor tenant of the arena. This milestone agreement will pave the way for the introduction of international professional basketball in Dubai. The team, envisioned by Chairman and Owner Abdulla Saeed Al Naboodah, has ambitions to break into the EuroLeague, starting with the 16-team ABA (Adriatic) League. This move will bring European stars to play at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, enhancing the basketball landscape in the region.

The President of Dubai Basketball, Salem bin Dasmal, expressed excitement about the partnership with Coca-Cola Arena, emphasizing their commitment to elevating the sport of basketball in Dubai. With the 15,000 capacity arena aligning with Dubai Basketball’s goal of delivering world-class experiences to fans, the partnership will allow for unforgettable experiences and the showcase of global basketball talent in a top-notch facility. The ABA League matches held in Dubai will feature teams from all over Europe, providing fans with an opportunity to witness some of the continent’s prominent names in action.

With the ABA League set to kick off in September 2024, fans can expect a full schedule of games to be announced soon, along with details on tickets and official Dubai Basketball merchandise. The collaboration between Dubai Basketball and Coca-Cola Arena signifies a commitment to advancing Dubai’s basketball landscape, fostering community engagement and promoting a sports culture in the Middle East. By participating in the ABA League, Dubai Basketball aims to establish itself in the EuroLeague and build a lasting connection with fans.

To bolster its competitive position, Dubai Basketball has appointed Jurica Golemac, a seasoned basketball professional, as the new head coach. Golemac’s wealth of experience as a player and coach is expected to bring a fresh and dynamic approach to the team, reflecting the club’s dedication to basketball excellence. In addition to competing in international leagues, Dubai Basketball plans to grow the game and its fan base in the region by developing a basketball culture, forming a solid fan base, establishing a club structure, and nurturing youth teams.

Looking ahead, Dubai Basketball is focused on preparing for its future in the EuroLeague by laying the foundations of a youth program and creating a club structure that aligns with EuroLeague conditions. The team is also gearing up to launch its flagship project, the Regional League, to further develop basketball in Dubai. As Dubai Basketball embarks on its journey to establish a presence in top-tier leagues, the partnership with Coca-Cola Arena serves as a significant step towards achieving its goals and elevating the sport of basketball in the region.
