Bahrain continues to lead the fight against human trafficking, as evidenced by its Tier 1 ranking in the U.S. Department of State’s 2023 Trafficking in Persons Report for the seventh consecutive year. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, expressed his pride in the Kingdom’s recognition as a global champion of human rights. This achievement is attributed to Bahrain’s strong humanitarian values, comprehensive legislative framework, and effective judicial and executive systems, all supported by the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Dr. Al Zayani conveyed his gratitude for this accomplishment, extending congratulations to His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also acknowledged the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Labour, and Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) for their dedicated efforts in combating human trafficking. The collaboration of various ministries, along with the judiciary, human rights organizations, civil society, and diplomatic missions, has been instrumental in Bahrain’s success. Knowledge exchange with the United States and international organizations has also played a crucial role in the Kingdom’s efforts.

The Minister reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its human rights achievements and maintaining its leading position on the global stage. He emphasized the country’s dedication to implementing advanced legislative and regulatory measures in accordance with Law No. (1) of 2008 on Combating Trafficking in Persons, as well as the National Human Rights Plan and international human rights standards. This commitment reflects the guidance of His Majesty the King and the government’s dedication under the leadership of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

As Bahrain continues to prioritize the protection of human rights and combat human trafficking, it sets an example for other nations to follow. The country’s unwavering commitment, strong legislative framework, and collaborative efforts across various sectors serve as a testament to its dedication to upholding human dignity. By maintaining its Tier 1 ranking in the Trafficking in Persons Report, Bahrain demonstrates its leadership in promoting a safer and more just society for all individuals within its borders.

The recognition of Bahrain as a leader in the fight against human trafficking is a testament to the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to protect the most vulnerable members of society. Dr. Al Zayani’s praise for the collaborative spirit of Bahrain’s government agencies, judiciary, human rights organizations, civil society, and diplomatic missions underscores the importance of united action in combating this heinous crime. With continued support from all sectors of society, Bahrain is well-positioned to maintain its global leadership in the fight against human trafficking.

In conclusion, Bahrain’s Tier 1 ranking in the U.S. Department of State’s 2023 Trafficking in Persons Report is a testament to the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to human rights and combating human trafficking. Under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government’s dedication guided by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain continues to make significant strides in protecting human dignity. By implementing advanced legislative measures and fostering collaboration across various sectors, Bahrain sets a powerful example for the global community in the fight against human trafficking.
