The meeting will bring together high-level representatives from all GCC Member States, with President of the General Tax Authority in Qatar, H E Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, leading the discussions. H E Khalid Ali Al Sunaidi, the Assistant Secretary for Economic and Development Affairs at the General of the Gulf Cooperation Council will also be in attendance, along with heads and directors of tax departments and authorities from the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait. The primary objective of this meeting is to strengthen cooperation and integration among GCC tax authorities, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency of tax systems across the Member States. Additionally, the meeting will address tax evasion, promote best practices, and advocate for a fair and transparent tax system in the Gulf region.

The State of Qatar’s hosting of this important meeting underscores its commitment to advancing GCC cooperation in critical areas, particularly taxation. Collaborative efforts among GCC tax authorities and departments are essential for the overall economic stability and growth of both individual countries and the region as a whole. By coming together and sharing knowledge and expertise, the Member States can work towards creating a more robust and transparent tax environment that ultimately benefits the citizens and businesses operating in the Gulf region. This meeting serves as a platform for fostering dialogue and cooperation, which are crucial for addressing challenges such as tax evasion and ensuring a level playing field for all taxpayers in the GCC countries.

The upcoming meeting in Doha will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and strategies for improving tax systems and compliance mechanisms in the Gulf region. By highlighting best practices and successful initiatives from different Member States, the meeting aims to encourage mutual learning and collaboration among tax authorities. The shared commitment to enhancing tax systems in the GCC countries reflects a broader dedication to promoting economic prosperity and sustainable development in the region.

One of the key outcomes expected from the meeting is the development of a roadmap for strengthening cooperation among GCC tax authorities and departments moving forward. This roadmap will outline specific areas of collaboration, potential joint initiatives, and strategies for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of tax systems in the Gulf region. By establishing a clear framework for cooperation, Member States can build on the momentum generated by this meeting and continue to work together towards common tax-related goals. The roadmap will serve as a guiding document for future initiatives and projects aimed at further advancing tax cooperation and integration within the GCC countries.
