The Municipal Council of the Governorate of Dhofar met under the leadership of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, to discuss various important topics. One of the key issues on the agenda was the approval of the council’s action plan for 2025. Furthermore, the council reviewed the plans of Oman Broadband Company and projects aimed at providing infrastructure for broadband services in Dhofar Governorate. The goal is to enable operators and telecommunications service providers to offer services to citizens, businesses, and government entities in line with the National Broadband Strategy and advancements in the field.

The General Directorate of Housing and Urban Planning presented an overview of its achievements and ongoing and future projects in Dhofar Governorate. Additionally, the proposal for establishing the “Dhofar Dairy Center” was discussed. The visit of the Governorate Development and Promotion Committee to the Wilayat of Mirbat was also reviewed to monitor progress on municipal projects and discuss ways to enhance their effectiveness. The meeting focused on ensuring the fulfillment of desired goals through these projects.

The Health and Environmental Affairs Committee shared the outcomes of its meeting with the Oman Environmental Services Company (be’ah) and put forth proposals for enhancing waste management services in several wilayats of the governorate. The company’s plans to streamline the waste transfer process during the autumn season were also discussed. Additionally, the Social Affairs Committee discussed the organization of mass weddings to support needy families and reduce financial burdens on young couples. This initiative aims to promote social cohesion within the community.

In conclusion, the Municipal Council’s meeting in Salalah addressed various significant issues related to infrastructure development, housing projects, waste management, and social support programs in Dhofar Governorate. The approval of the council’s action plan for 2025 and discussions on broadband services, housing projects, waste management, and social initiatives reflect the commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents and promoting sustainable development in the region. The collaborative efforts of the council and relevant committees are pivotal in ensuring the successful implementation of projects and initiatives that benefit the community as a whole.
