Coinbase has recently announced the upcoming launch of a new web application designed to provide users with a unified platform for managing their entire crypto exposure. The new Coinbase Wallet web app will enable users to view and manage their digital assets, including tokens, NFTs, and DeFi positions, across various blockchains such as Bitcoin, Solana, and Ethereum. This initiative is part of Coinbase’s strategy to bring approximately 100 million users onto the blockchain and streamline the user experience by integrating multiple functionalities into one interface.
Sid Coelho-Prabhu, Coinbase’s Senior Director of Product Management, emphasized that user feedback drove the development of the new web app. The goal is to offer users a simplified way to manage their assets and view their portfolios on the blockchain. The app aims to make on-chain activities more accessible and user-friendly, catering to both seasoned and novice users in the crypto space.
The new Coinbase Wallet web app offers several features to enhance the user experience, including the ability to connect multiple wallets and view an overall cryptocurrency balance in one place. Users can trade over 2 million tokens across eight chains and seamlessly perform transactions with any connected wallet. Additionally, the app integrates with Coinbase smart wallets, allowing for gasless transactions on certain mints and the ability to spend directly from a Coinbase account on-chain via MagicSpend. Furthermore, the app enables the creation and distribution of NFTs directly on the platform, providing creators with more control and monetization opportunities.
Apart from launching new features, Coinbase is actively advocating for better regulation in the digital asset market. The company has submitted an amicus brief in a case against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and has been named an additional custodian for VanEck’s Bitcoin Trust. These initiatives underscore Coinbase’s commitment to enhancing security and the user experience, with a focus on safeguarding assets against cyber threats through cold storage practices.
