Barcelona’s attempts to register Dani Olmo have hit another roadblock, with La Liga and the Spanish football federation rejecting the club’s appeals. The future of Olmo and Pau Victor at Barcelona remains uncertain due to financial and administrative issues preventing their registration beyond 2024.

Last summer, debt-laden Barcelona managed to register Olmo without violating La Liga’s budget regulations after Andreas Christensen’s injury. However, the club’s attempts to extend the players’ registrations until the end of the season through court cases were unsuccessful. As a result, Olmo and Victor were removed from the official squad list on January 1.

Barcelona sought new licenses from the Spanish football federation, with reports suggesting they had sold VIP seats at the future Camp Nou to raise funds and facilitate the registrations. The league increased Barcelona’s squad budget cap following the club’s compliance with financial rules, but the joint commission handling Olmo and Victor’s applications decided not to grant the licenses due to RFEF regulations.

Although Olmo’s contract contains a clause allowing him to leave if he cannot be registered, Barcelona can appeal the latest ruling. The players were not included in coach Hansi Flick’s squad list for the Copa del Rey tie against Barbastro, highlighting the ongoing uncertainty surrounding their future at the club.

Barcelona’s desperate attempts to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been met with repeated rejections from La Liga and the Spanish football federation. The financial and administrative hurdles preventing the players’ registration beyond 2024 have left their futures at the Catalan giants in limbo. Despite the club’s efforts to comply with budget rules, court cases seeking an extension of the players’ registrations were unsuccessful, leading to their removal from the official squad list on January 1.

The club’s decision to sell VIP seats at the future Camp Nou in a bid to raise funds and increase their budget for the registrations proved futile, as the joint commission handling the players’ applications refused to grant the licenses due to RFEF regulations. While Barcelona has the option to appeal the latest ruling, the continuing uncertainty surrounding Olmo and Victor’s status has left fans and stakeholders on edge.

The absence of Olmo and Victor from coach Hansi Flick’s squad list for the Copa del Rey tie against Barbastro further underscores the challenges facing Barcelona. The club’s inability to secure the players’ registrations has not only affected their on-field prospects but has also cast a shadow over their financial and administrative capabilities. As the saga continues to unfold, all eyes will be on Barcelona as they navigate the complexities of player registration and compliance with league regulations in the coming weeks.

In a statement released by La Liga and the Spanish football federation, it was confirmed that Barcelona’s squad budget cap had been increased following the club’s financial compliance. However, the joint commission handling the applications for Olmo and Victor decided against granting the licenses, citing RFEF rules that prevent a player whose license has been cancelled from obtaining a license with the same team during the same season. Despite the setback, Barcelona still has the option to appeal the ruling and pursue alternative avenues to secure the registrations for the players.

The ongoing saga surrounding Dani Olmo and Pau Victor’s registrations at Barcelona highlights the complexities and challenges facing the club in navigating financial and administrative hurdles. As the club continues to explore options to secure the players’ futures, the uncertainty surrounding their status has added another layer of intrigue to an already turbulent season. With Barcelona’s appeal pending, fans and stakeholders will be eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this unfolding drama.
