A Bahraini woman recently went through a harrowing six-hour ordeal with her ex-husband, including threats, knives, and a struggle for freedom that resulted in her ex-husband being sentenced to 18 months in prison. The incident took place when the ex-husband arrived in an agitated state, demanding to discuss their children. He proceeded to brandish a knife and threaten the woman, culminating in her being forcibly confined and assaulted.

The First High Criminal Court found the ex-husband guilty of detaining his ex-wife, threatening her with violence, possessing psychotropic substances, and assaulting her. The prosecution detailed how the man used knives to control and threaten the victim, leading to her being driven around various locations for six hours. Despite multiple attempts to escape and call for help, the victim was unable to get assistance until the police intervened and arrested her ex-husband.

The terrifying incident began escalating when the ex-husband demanded the victim close the car door, which she had kept open out of fear. As the situation escalated, the ex-husband forcibly closed the door, preventing the victim from escaping. He then proceeded to use a knife to further intimidate and control her, resulting in her sustaining an injury during the struggle. Despite her daughter’s attempts to contact her and seek help, the ex-husband continued to threaten and restrain the victim.

Throughout the six-hour ordeal, the victim was driven to different locations, including Sakhir and the Askar area, where she tried but failed to escape due to the ex-husband’s forceful actions. Even when she managed to briefly open the door at traffic lights to call for help, no assistance was forthcoming. The ex-husband’s continued threats and violence made it challenging for the victim to seek aid until the police eventually intervened and put an end to the terrifying episode.

In conclusion, the case of the Bahraini woman’s terrifying ordeal with her ex-husband highlights the importance of taking domestic violence seriously and providing support to victims in such situations. The victim’s courage and determination to fight for her freedom ultimately led to her ex-husband being held accountable for his actions. This serves as a reminder of the need for awareness and action to prevent and address domestic violence, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals facing such experiences.
