The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Doha, Qatar recently inaugurated a new mosque in the Rasheeda area, as part of its plan to increase and revamp the number of mosques in the country. The mosque, with the number M.S 661, can accommodate 300 worshipers on a large plot of land measuring 7,694 sq m. This initiative is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to keep up with the urbanization and population growth in the country.

The new mosque features a spacious prayer hall, a washing area, and multiple public parking lots, including designated spots for persons with disabilities. The entrances and exits of the mosque have been meticulously designed, and it also boasts a tall minaret. The Ministry’s Engineering Affairs Department is responsible for meeting the needs of various areas in Qatar with regards to mosques and prayer rooms. This includes overseeing the construction and maintenance of mosques, setting annual plans for maintenance, and ensuring that mosques are designed in accordance with green and sustainable building practices.

The Department places a strong emphasis on preserving the authenticity of Qatari and Islamic heritage in mosque designs, while also considering factors such as population density, engineering requirements, and architectural specifications. Additionally, the Department ensures that mosques comply with sustainability requirements in terms of water and electricity consumption. The Ministry’s official website allows users to search for mosque locations based on geographical coordinates, using accurate and detailed maps that make it easy to find mosques in all cities across the country.

Overall, the inauguration of the new mosque in Rasheeda area is a significant step towards enhancing the religious infrastructure in Qatar. By increasing the number of mosques and ensuring they are designed and maintained to the highest standards, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs is fulfilling its commitment to providing adequate prayer spaces for the growing population. This initiative also aligns with the broader goal of achieving sustainable development and preserving the cultural heritage of Qatar. With a focus on efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability, the Ministry’s Engineering Affairs Department plays a crucial role in ensuring that mosques in Qatar meet the needs of worshipers while respecting the country’s rich heritage.
