The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria, Egypt is set to host the 73rd session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Transport Ministers and the 37th session of the Council on Tuesday and Wednesday. The meetings will focus on enhancing Arab cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics, supporting efforts to develop transport infrastructure in the Arab region, and promoting economic integration among Arab member states to achieve sustainable development goals.

Among the topics on the agenda are discussions on establishing an Arab mechanism and database to support the ship repair and construction industry, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in developing the transport and logistics sector, a draft agreement to regulate maritime transport procedures between Arab countries, and a proposal to standardize driving and rest periods for truck and bus drivers to enhance safety in the land transport sector. The meeting will also address proposals from Saudi Arabia, including the establishment of a special Arab agency for maritime safety and a regional center to manage ship traffic in the Red Sea.

In addition to the sessions of the Council of Arab Transport Ministers, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport will host an Arab-European workshop in cooperation with the European Union and the Transport and Tourism Department of the League of Arab States. The workshop will focus on preparing an integrated study for the project to establish a supply chain for green hydrogen and aim to enhance Arab-European cooperation in the field of clean energy.

During the workshop, successful experiences of Arab countries in the field of green hydrogen, such as Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, the UAE, Morocco, and Iraq, will be highlighted. The workshop will feature presentations on developing an integrated supply chain for green hydrogen to promote sustainable development and enhance the sustainability of the transportation sector in Arab countries.

Overall, the meetings and workshops hosted by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport aim to strengthen cooperation among Arab countries in the transport sector, promote sustainable development goals, and enhance economic integration for the benefit of all Arab member states. Participants will discuss important topics related to maritime safety, transport infrastructure, and clean energy to create a more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation network in the Arab region. By working together and sharing experiences, Arab countries can make significant progress in the field of transportation and logistics.
