Doha, Qatar – Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Alsharbatly and Boeckmanns Lord Pezi Junior dominated the opening day of the inaugural H H The Father Amir’s Prix at Al Shaqab, continuing their success into the second day of competition. Alsharbatly secured a significant victory in the CSI4* 1.50m Jump-Off, further solidifying his position as a top competitor in this prestigious show jumping event. The competition, part of the larger Doha Equestrian Tour 2026, showcases elite equestrian talent from around the globe.

The event, held at the Longines Outdoor Arena, saw Alsharbatly complete a flawless jump-off in 39.95 seconds after a clear first round of 80.77 seconds. This performance bested Austria’s Max Kuhner and Eic Quantum Robin V, who finished second in 40.73 seconds, and Britain’s Sienna Charles aboard Stardust, taking third place in 41.04 seconds. The H H The Father Amir’s Prix is designed to elevate the profile of equestrian sports in Qatar and the region.

Alsharbatly’s Winning Streak and Event Highlights

Alsharbatly’s success wasn’t limited to the CSI4* 1.50m Jump-Off. He also claimed victory earlier in the day in the CSI2* 1.30m Special Two-Phase with Dr Scarpo, demonstrating his versatility and skill across different levels of show jumping competition. He expressed his satisfaction with the results, praising both his horses and the exceptional organization of the event.

“I am really happy. It’s been a fantastic day – two wins with two different horses is always special,” Alsharbatly stated, according to reports from The Peninsula Qatar. He further lauded the Qatari federation for creating an “amazing” environment for the sport, calling their efforts “like a miracle.”

Other Notable Performances

The day also saw strong performances from other international and Qatari riders. Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano topped the CSI4* 1.45m Faults & Time with Vasco 118, while British rider Millie Allen won the CSI2* 1.45m Faults & Time on Quick Diamant HR. These results highlight the competitive depth of the field and the international appeal of the Prix.

Adding to the local success, Qatari rider Ali Omar A H Al Ansari delivered an impressive performance in the Longines Indoor Arena, winning the CSI1* 1.15m Faults & Time aboard Nikita Eindeken Z. Al Ansari noted the confidence of his horse and the positive atmosphere contributed to his victory. This win is a significant boost for Qatar’s developing equestrian program and demonstrates the growing talent within the country.

Egypt also enjoyed success, with Mohamed Elshenawy and Kamelia DS taking first and second place in the CSI2* 1.35m Faults & Time, showcasing the strength of North African equestrianism. Additionally, Bader Alfard of Saudi Arabia secured a win in the CSI1* 1.25m Faults & Time event.

The Doha Equestrian Tour 2026, of which the H H The Father Amir’s Prix is a part, aims to attract top-tier equestrian athletes and promote the sport’s growth in the region. The event provides a platform for riders to compete for valuable ranking points and prize money, contributing to the overall development of the discipline. The competition is also expected to boost tourism and economic activity in Qatar.

Tour 1 of the H H The Father Amir’s Prix is scheduled to conclude today with seven contests, including the CSI4* 1.55m Jump-Off, CSI2* 1.45m Jump-Off, and CSI1* 1.30m Jump-Off Grands Prix. Organizers will be closely monitoring rider and horse welfare throughout the remainder of the tour. The success of this inaugural event will likely influence future iterations and the overall strategy for promoting equestrian sports in Qatar.
