Al-Ittihad women’s football team is gearing up for the upcoming Saudi Women’s Premier League season by embarking on an overseas training camp in Girona, Spain. Led by Brazilian coach Lindsay Camila, the team will be participating in the camp from August 24 to September 10. During their time in Spain, the team is scheduled to play four friendly matches against top Spanish clubs, including Barcelona, Levante, Espanyol, and Girona. This training camp will serve as a crucial preparation for the upcoming season, which is set to commence on September 27.

In anticipation of the new season, Al-Ittihad made significant signings during the summer transfer window. The team secured Slovenian goalkeeper Zala Meršnik and player Nadine Kaaki, adding depth and talent to their squad. Additionally, they have retained key players from the previous season, such as Jordanian Shahnaz Jebreen, Lebanese players Layla Iskandar and Lyan Ruby, and Nigerian Ashley Plumptre. These players played a vital role in the team’s performance during the 2023-2024 season and will be instrumental in their quest for success in the upcoming campaign.

Despite finishing sixth in the Saudi Women’s Football League standings last season, Al-Ittihad is determined to improve their position and make a strong impact in the league. The team has been working diligently to enhance their skills, tactics, and coordination during the overseas training camp in Spain. With a mix of experienced players and talented newcomers, Al-Ittihad aims to showcase their strength and competitiveness in the upcoming season, building on their past achievements and striving for greater success.

The opportunity to play against renowned Spanish clubs like Barcelona, Levante, Espanyol, and Girona will be a valuable experience for the Al-Ittihad women’s football team. These friendly matches will test their abilities, provide them with exposure to different playing styles, and help them refine their strategies ahead of the Saudi Women’s Premier League season. Facing tough competition in Spain will be a crucial part of the team’s preparations and will enable them to fine-tune their tactics, teamwork, and overall performance for the challenges that lie ahead in the domestic league.

The decision to conduct an overseas training camp demonstrates Al-Ittihad’s commitment to excellence and their ambition to elevate the standard of women’s football in Saudi Arabia. By exposing their players to international competition and high-quality training facilities, the team aims to enhance their skills, broaden their horizons, and raise their level of play. This strategic approach to preparation reflects Al-Ittihad’s dedication to achieving success on the domestic front and solidifying their position as a competitive force in the Saudi Women’s Premier League.

As the Al-Ittihad women’s football team embarks on their journey to Spain for the overseas training camp, they are driven by a shared goal of success and improvement. With a mix of experienced veterans and promising newcomers, the team is focused on honing their skills, refining their tactics, and enhancing their teamwork. Through rigorous training sessions, competitive friendly matches, and exposure to top-tier Spanish clubs, Al-Ittihad is preparing diligently for the challenges of the upcoming season. With their sights set on climbing up the Saudi Women’s Premier League standings, Al-Ittihad is poised to make a strong statement and leave a lasting impact on women’s football in Saudi Arabia.
