Prime Minister of Vietnam H E Pham Minh Chinh is set to visit Qatar from October 30 to November 1, marking the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to the country in 15 years. The visit is seen as a symbol of the strong friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar, highlighting the importance that Vietnam places on its relationship with Qatar. The visit is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as politics, economics, trade, investment, energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, industry, culture, tourism, and sports.

Both Vietnam and Qatar are seen as dynamic and rapidly advancing countries that hold significant positions in their respective regions and on the international stage. The two countries share a common goal of promoting peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity. Over the years, Vietnam and Qatar have developed a multifaceted relationship, with significant achievements in politics, diplomacy, trade, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Qatar is now considered one of Vietnam’s most important trade partners in the Middle East, with bilateral trade reaching $740 million in 2023.

In terms of political and diplomatic ties, Vietnam and Qatar have seen positive developments, with more frequent exchanges of delegations at all levels. The economic aspect of the relationship has also experienced robust growth, with bilateral trade reaching $562 million in the first eight months of this year. Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy Phase focuses on key areas such as sustainable economic growth, sustainable finance, future human resources, harmonious society, quality of life, sustainable environment, and effective government. This strategy presents opportunities for cooperation between Qatar and other countries, including Vietnam.

Vietnam and Qatar have the potential to collaborate in various areas, including the production and export of agriculture and food, machinery, equipment, electronic components, skilled labor, digital transformation, and energy transition. The two countries can explore forms of joint venture cooperation and joint investment cooperation, bringing mutual benefits. Vietnam’s role and geographical location in the ASEAN region provide Qatar with access to other neighboring markets, while cooperation with Qatar can help Vietnam penetrate the Gulf region and beyond. Overall, the visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Qatar is expected to further strengthen the comprehensive and extensive cooperation between the two countries, creating new opportunities for growth and development.
