Following a telephonic conversation with the UAE President, Prof. Muhammad Yunus praised the compassionate leadership displayed by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and cited the decision to annul the sentences of the convicts as a means of strengthening the bond between the two nations. The consul general of Bangladesh in Dubai and Northern Emirates, BM Jamal Hossain, also commended the UAE’s gesture and described it as great news for Bangladeshi expatriates living in the UAE, particularly those who were convicted.
