Heavy vehicle drivers in Ras Al Khaimah now have the option to request an evaluation through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) app, as announced by the Ras Al Khaimah Police on social media. This smart testing system is designed to make it easier for heavy vehicle operators to request an evaluation of their driving skills. By simply ordering the service through the MOI app, an inspector will be dispatched directly to the location to conduct the test. The smart system will evaluate the driver’s performance, and the results will be encoded into internal systems. The app will then inform the operator whether they passed or failed the evaluation, providing reasons for any failure to help the driver improve.

This new initiative aims to improve the heavy driving skills of workers while enhancing operational efficiency. By continuously improving the quality of inspection processes, Ras Al Khaimah Police hopes to use advanced technology and smart applications to achieve this goal. In Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently launched a pilot operation for Artificial Intelligence(AI)-assisted automated detection of damage to the right-of-way on the city’s roads. Dubai authorities have been utilizing artificial intelligence to monitor and track the performance of thousands of public utility vehicles and their drivers since last year.

In Dubai, as many as 7,200 vehicles, including taxis, limousines, school buses, commercial buses, and delivery bikes, as well as 14,500 drivers, are now covered by the smart system implemented by the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), an arm of the RTA. The main goal of this system is to ensure the safety and efficiency of transportation services in the city. By leveraging the power of AI and smart systems, authorities aim to streamline inspection processes, improve driver performance, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

The use of technology in evaluating heavy vehicle drivers in Ras Al Khaimah and monitoring public utility vehicles in Dubai demonstrates a commitment by authorities to enhance road safety and improve traffic management. By incorporating smart systems and AI technology, authorities can quickly identify areas for improvement, provide real-time feedback to drivers, and ultimately enhance the overall performance of transportation services. These initiatives reflect a proactive approach towards utilizing advanced technology to address operational challenges and enhance the quality of services provided to residents and visitors in both Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai.

As the demand for transportation services continues to grow in urban areas like Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, it is essential for authorities to implement innovative solutions to ensure the safety and efficiency of these services. The integration of smart systems, AI technology, and mobile applications allows for more streamlined and effective evaluation processes, leading to improved driver performance and better overall service quality. By leveraging the power of technology, authorities can not only enhance the safety and efficiency of transportation services but also contribute to overall traffic management and road safety efforts in these cities.
